Welcome to the Hellenic Enclosure
at West Norwood Cemetery in London
Tucked away in West Norwood Cemetery lies the Hellenic Enclosure, the oldest Greek cemetery in the United Kingdom. The Enclosure is a hugely atmospheric place, containing a wide range of memorials, from stunning Grade-1 listed monuments to simple graves for seamen who died far from home. The years have not been kind to the Enclosure, but in recent years a huge amount of work has been done to protect and restore the memorials. The jewel in the crown is Saint Stephen’s Chapel, dedicated to a member of the Ralli family, which has been fully-restored and is now a wonderful venue.
We are a group of individuals whose family members are buried in the Enclosure. We would love to connect with you. We encourage you to join the Hellenic Enclosure Association, so you do not miss any of the wonderful events we have planned.
Thank you for visiting this website and do get in touch with any questions you might have.

Hellenic Enclosure Association
Formed in September 2025, following the first ever event to bring Enclosure families together, the Hellenic Enclosure Association exists to bring the families together, be a voice for the preservation and improvement of the Enclosure, and enhance ties with Lambeth Council who are ultimately responsible for the Enclosure.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Hellenic Enclosure Association is dedicated to bringing together the families whose ancestors created the magnificent Hellenic Enclosure at West Norwood Cemetery, to help preserve the enclosure’s historic grounds and memorials and foster connections among descendants, friends and supporters.
The Association intends to:
Conduct a comprehensive survey of all tombs and identify the closest living descendants.
Provide guidance to families interested in restoring their tombs.
Encourage and help fund the repair and restoration of the grounds, including paths and boundary walls.
Organise gatherings and events, and promote ongoing engagement among descendants, friends and the wider Greek community.
